Project One - a tile sampler
When I first started making tiles during the summer of 2024 I experimented with stamps and moulds and addressed some of the the issues of clays, inlays and glazes. The pile of fired tiles started to pile up - and not all of them were rejects. As the pile grew I resolved to make a tile ‘sampler’ - in the same vein as an embroidery ‘sampler’ as was made by Victorian girls to demonstrate their mastery of embroidery.
This project is the subject of an article in an up coming edition of the TACS ‘Glazed Expression’ and I will complete this post once the article has been published.
The TACS article has now been published (Issue 96, Oct 2025) and so I can now work to add more detail to this post.
